Seeking Ruby on Rails (RoR) Web Developer This is a rare opportunity to play a key role in a major web development project, defining, architecting, and developing core components & major improvements for a major consumer video site, within the context of a large, successful, publicly traded company
Primary
Responsibilities:
o Architect, design, and implement major server-side and client-side (front-end) components
o Work closely with the Technical Lead and Product Manager to identify and investigate key requirements and solutions
o Develop a very intuitive consumer User Experience, incorporating input from colleagues, site metrics, and user feedback
o Deliver software of the highest quality through good design, attention to detail, clever use of automated testing, and direct unit and system testing
o Deliver components on aggressive schedules, on-time and on-budget
o Collaborate with other members of the product development team throughout the development lifecycle
Required Qualifications:
o Bachelor's degree in Computer Science or related field
o 4
years experience in software development
o 3
years experience working with HTML, CSS, and JavaScript/AJAX across multiple browsers
o 2
years experience developing in Java, Ruby on Rails (RoR), or other object-oriented web frameworks
o 1
years experience developing in Ruby on Rails (RoR)
o Strong ability to develop and analyze requirements and to architect, design, and implement high-quality software solutions to meet those requirements
o Solid object-oriented design, programming, and debugging skills
o Track record for developing innovative approaches to solve tough technical problems
o Proficient in leveraging development tools - source code mgmt, IDEs, and debuggers
o Proven track record for project delivery, on-time and on-budget
o Highly motivated self-starter, who thrives in a fast-paced environment and can work independently with minimal supervision
o Excellent team player, eager to learn from others and to share skills with colleagues
o Excellent verbal and written communication skills
Qualifications:
o Experience developing and deploying a high-volume consumer web site
o Experience developing in Ruby on Rails (RoR)
o Experience in Online Video
o Background in site scalability, performance analysis, and optimization
o Experience working with Amazon Elastic Compute Cloud (EC2) & related systems
o Experience in database design, SQL, query performance analysis, and query optimization
o Experience with Agile software development methodologiesEstimated Salary: $20 to $28 per hour based on qualifications.
