Auxiliary Affairs Specialist

You will be assigned to the Auxiliary Branch Office (dpa) of the Prevention Division, Eleventh Coast Guard District (D11). You will be responsible for providing continuity for management and administration of the Eleventh District Coast Guard Auxiliary Program. Being a civilian working for the Coast Guard makes you a valuable team member. Typical duties include:
Analyzing and evaluating effectiveness of AUXDATA (Auxiliary program database) functions to meeting USCG Aux program goals and objectives. Providing recommended advice to the Director on new policy initiatives and information including programs such as:
Auxiliary surface facility management to support active duty Coast Guard field commands within the Eleventh District; and revisions to Auxiliary awards and recognition program. Issuing and tracking all certifications, qualifications, training sessions and exams completed by the Auxiliary members in the Auxiliary Database and each member's paper record. Preparing memos and certificates of completion or advancement for each program area. Processing, entering and tracking all member and unit awards and certificates. Coordinating annual conferences, training and workshops. Conducting training and providing guidance at annual workshops on a variety of administrative tasks, such as travel claims, enrollments/disenrollments, transfers, property inventory and adherence to Auxiliary rules, regulations and policy. Independently coordinating special projects and assignments. Making authoritative decisions on administrative matters relatead to the Auxiliary program. Drafting procedures and instructions setting forth policies and guidelines for Auxiliary programs. Providing technical assistance and training to Auxiliarists for patrol orders submission, and AOMS training and administration to DIRAUX office staff, Sectors, stations and units designated as Order Issuing Authority (OIA). Independently developing and managing budget for Auxiliary program. Developing spending plan and assisting with overall budget analysis for the Auxiliary program. Designated Travel Approving Official (AO) for all Auxiliary program. Assisting the Director with the preparation of the branch's annual fiscal budget and spend plan, including funding for fuel, vessels' maintenance and operational Personal Protective Equipment (PPE). Managing the enrollment of new members, including the issuing of Auxiliary ID cards. Designated as a Trusted Agent for issuing Auxiliary Logical Access Credential (ALAC) cards to select members for the access to the CG network. Working with Command Security Officer to properly approve members for ALAC card issuance. Proficiently and frequently utilizing CG Auxiliary specific computer program to ensure proper data entry and information management for all Auxiliary programs and personnel. Applicants must have one year of specialized experience equivalent to the GS-9 level in the Federal Service. Specialized experience is experience that has equipped you with the particular ability, skill, and knowledge to successfully perform the duties of this position and is typically in or related to this line of work. Examples include performing administrative management functions, which includes maintaining databases, preparing paperwork, etc.National Service Experience (i.e., volunteer experience):

You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer experience.The Office of Personnel management (OPM) must authorize employment offers made to current or former political appointees. If you are currently, or have been within the last 5 years, a political Schedule A, Schedule, C, Non-career SES or Presidential Appointee employee in the Executive Branch, you must disclose this information to the Human Resources Office.

The fraudster will send a check to the victim who has accepted a job. The check can be for multiple reasons such as signing bonus, supplies, etc. The victim will be instructed to deposit the check and use the money for any of these reasons and then instructed to send the remaining funds to the fraudster. The check will bounce and the victim is left responsible.
