Crane Operator, WG-5725-11 (Industrial Equipment Mechanic)

This position will serve as a Crane Operator and the primary purpose of this position is to operate boom cranes and marine travel lifts in support of USCG activities within the Naval Engineering Support Units of the Industrial Operations Division.Being a Coast Guard civilian makes you a valuable member of the Coast Guard team. Typical work assignments include:
1. Operating boom cranes of varying sizes (35-ton or 39-ton marine travel lift, 20-ton with 70 foot boom, 25-ton with 72 foot boom, 35-ton with 136 foot boom, 45-ton with 60 foot boom) 2. Reading and interpreting blueprints, preparing sketches, reporting, and diagraming and following manufacturer's operating and maintenance instructions in executions maintenance (e.g. oil changes, fan belt replacement, air filter change hose replacement etc). 3. Determining safe working loads and conditions and manipulates various controls in response to hand signals to move various equipment throughout the facility. 4. Reassembling, performing operational and functional test, and make required adjustments in order to ensure safe and proper operation of entire system.5. Dismantling, moving and relocating various types of industrial plant machinery and equipment or install new machinery and equipment. 6. Using machine tools for onsite milling, grinding, boring, facing, and drilling and the use of various other portable machine tools to accomplish repairs as well as minor weld repairs. Applicants will be evaluated on their ability to perform the duties of the position rather than the length of experience. Eligibility will be determined by the relevance, scope, and quality of all experience and training, regardless of where or how acquired.Applicants will be rated and ranked based on their knowledge of the following job elements:
Ability to do the work of the position without greater than normal supervision (SCREENOUT). Ability to operate cranes at all boom lengths, angles and positions and be skilled in making rapid lifting capacity judgements during continual position changes. Ability to perform work outdoors and indoors occasionally at high heights, often in a partially enclosed crane cab in all types of weather. Ability to lift loads weighing up to 75 pounds without assistance and carry objects weighing 45 pounds over considerable distance. Ability to interpret and apply requirements contained in technical manuals, shop directives, multi-view blueprints, sketches, work orders specifications and other documents in determining critical dimensions and key reference points to plan National Service Experience (i.e., volunteer experience):
Experience refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service programs (e.g., Peace Corps, AmeriCorps) and other organizations (e.g., professional; philanthropic; religious; spiritual; community, student, social). Volunteer work helps build critical competencies, knowledge, and skills and can provide valuable training and experience that translates directly to paid employment. You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer experience.

The fraudster will send a check to the victim who has accepted a job. The check can be for multiple reasons such as signing bonus, supplies, etc. The victim will be instructed to deposit the check and use the money for any of these reasons and then instructed to send the remaining funds to the fraudster. The check will bounce and the victim is left responsible.
