As an electrician at Base Alameda in the Utilities Branch of the Facilities Engineering Department, you may work as part of a team or independently to complete electrical projects on shore based infrastructure (buildings, workshops, piers, lift stations, mobile equipment, etc). The Base consists of approximately 40 buildings totaling 675,000 sq. ft. While working on these projects, you are required to practice proper safety techniques at all times and point out electrical safety issues to coworkers. Being a CG civilian makes you a valuable member of the CG team. Typical work assignment include:
Installing, modifying, repairing, loading and testing systems, circuits, equipment and controls in support of other building trades in maintaining and remodeling commercial, office, shop, and recreation buildings. Interpreting and applying the National Electrical Code, local codes, building plans, blueprints, wiring diagrams, and engineering drawings, and using trade formulas to calculate common properties. Planning and laying out work, tracing hard-to-locate defects or problems, and completing repairs and installations. Troubleshooting, testing, and loading new and existing electrical lines, circuits, systems and associated fixtures, controls, and equipment. Installing, modifying, repairing, and maintaining electrical lines, circuits, systems, and associated fixtures, controls, and equipment. Installing, maintaining, testing and repairing motors, voltage regulators, alternators, switches, compressors, controllers, relays, lighting equipment, and sound generators. Installing and maintaining power and control cable overhead and underground, under water and in structures involving bending and laying of conduit including rigid, thin wall and flex, and pulling, splicing, and connecting cable. Applicants will be evaluated on their ability to perform the duties of the position rather than the length of experience. Eligibility will be determined by the relevance, scope, and quality of all experience and training, regardless of where or how acquired. Applicants will be rated and ranked based on their knowledge of the following job elements:

Volunteer work helps build critical competencies, knowledge, and skills and can provide valuable training and experience that translates directly to paid employment. You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer experience.

The fraudster will send a check to the victim who has accepted a job. The check can be for multiple reasons such as signing bonus, supplies, etc. The victim will be instructed to deposit the check and use the money for any of these reasons and then instructed to send the remaining funds to the fraudster. The check will bounce and the victim is left responsible.
