The selectee is responsible for providing technical support, methods, standards, equipment evaluation, facilities support, industrial engineering support and working procedures to resolve safety and health issues.Being a Coast Guard civilian makes you a valuable member of the Coast Guard team.Typical work assignments include:
Serving as team member and independently schedules and conducting a full range of inspections throughout the region to identify and evaluate the hazard potential of a wide variety of conditions. Interviewing employees to acquire specific details on hazardous operations and conditions and provides assistance and recommendations to correct hazards encountered. Consulting with specialist from related occupations concerning work process modification and recommends operational changes and prepares final reports of the results of the investigation. Advising top-level management of the CG unit or District Staff on the status of the safety and occupational health program and recommends changes to meet new safety and occupational health standards. Instructing employees on a variety of safety and occupational health subjects including regulations, practices, and procedures appropriate to their work. Reviewing design plans for new construction, modifications or renovations of structures and coordinates efforts with the engineering and planning functions to ensure all code, standards, and guidelines in the safety areas incorporated in the initial planning stages. AT THE GS-13:
Applicants must have at least one year of specialized experience equivalent to the GS-12 level in the Federal service. Examples of specialized experience include:
planning, organizing and implementing a Safety and Occupational Health program, make yearly program projections, evaluate the impact of trends, make recommendations, develop, organize and/or controls the establishment of safety and occupational health requirements, plan and prepare regulations, develop and conduct safety and occupational health training, monitor fields and OSHA changes, direct actions to develop trend analysis, abatement actions and follow-up actions, prepare and sign audit reports.National Service Experience (i.e., volunteer experience):
Experience refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service programs (e.g., Peace Corps, AmeriCorps) and other organizations (e.g., professional; philanthropic; religious; spiritual; community, student, social). Volunteer work helps build critical competencies, knowledge, and skills and can provide valuable training and experience that translates directly to paid employment. You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer experience.The Office of Personnel management (OPM) must authorize employment offers made to current or former political appointees. If you are currently, or have been within the last 5 years, a political Schedule A, Schedule, C, Non-career SES or Presidential Appointee employee in the Executive Branch, you must disclose this information to the Human Resources Office.

The check can be for multiple reasons such as signing bonus, supplies, etc. The victim will be instructed to deposit the check and use the money for any of these reasons and then instructed to send the remaining funds to the fraudster. The check will bounce and the victim is left responsible.
