In this position, you will provide advice and assistance to all Service components, Department of Defense, Department of Homeland Security (DoD/DHS) military, dependents, civilians, Transportation Service Providers and commercial contractors and other transportation offices worldwide, to ensure the timely, economical and procedurally correct preparation of documents to authorize shipping and transportation services. Being a CG civilian make you a valuable member of the CG team. Typical work assignments include:
Counseling all authorized military and civilian employees of their entitlements for shipping and storage of personal property and privately owned vehicles. Determining and advising entitlements or procedures related to temporary storage of goods. Planning, booking, and routing personal property. Reviewing documents and evaluating carrier or contractor performance against standards from a myriad of tenders, rate solicitations, contracts and government quality control regulations. Advising personal property owners experiencing difficulties with their move, the proper procedures to follow or should be followed. Performing periodic inspections of contractor's storage facilities. You qualify for the GS-06 grade level if you possess one year of specialized experience at the GS-05 grade level performing duties such as:
Advising and administering transportation instructions rules, procedures or operations governing entitlements and documentations requirements to authorized shipping and transportation services. Performing counseling duties and explaining entitlements which require different responses/ actions based on method or mode of shipment or needs of property owners. Responding to and resolving property owner's or carrier's/contractor's needs for services desired in accordance with one or all of the appropriate regulations. Maintaining and performing inspections of carrier/contractor's storage facilities and performance files. Experience refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service programs (e.g., Peace Corps, AmeriCorps) and other organizations (e.g., professional; philanthropic; religious; spiritual;community, student, social). Volunteer work helps build critical competencies, knowledge, and skills and can provide valuable training and experience that translates directly to paid employment. You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer experience. Current federal employees must have served 52 weeks at the next lower grade level or equivalent grade band in the federal service. The time-in-grade requirement must be met by within 30 days of the closing of this announcement. The Office of Personnel Management (OPM) must authorize employment offers made to current or former political appointees. If you are currently, or have been within the last 5 years, a political Schedule A, Schedule C, Non-career SES or Presidential Appointee employee in the Executive Branch, you must disclose this information to the Human Resources Office.

The check can be for multiple reasons such as signing bonus, supplies, etc. The victim will be instructed to deposit the check and use the money for any of these reasons and then instructed to send the remaining funds to the fraudster. The check will bounce and the victim is left responsible.
