In order be eligible for the position of Consumer Safety Officer (Retail Food) - Direct Hire, (GS-0696-12), you must meet the following requirements Applicants must meet one of the following (A or B). A. A bachelor's or graduate/higher level degree in quality assurance or a related degree that included at least 30 semester hours in one or a combination of the following:
consumer laws, biological sciences, food science, chemistry, pharmacy, physical sciences, food technology, nutrition, medical science, engineering, epidemiology, veterinary medical science, legal investigations, law enforcement, or related scientific fields that provided knowledge directly related to consumer safety officer work. The 30 semester hours may include up to 8 semester hours in statistics, or course work that included the principles, theory, or practical application of computers or computer programming; - OR - B. Combination of education and experience--courses consisting of at least 30 semester hours in the fields of study described in paragraph A above, plus appropriate experience or additional education. MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS REQUIREMENTS:
You must possess one year (52-weeks) of specialized experience, equivalent to at least the next lower grade level (GS-11) in the Federal service. Such experience includes:
conducting risk based inspections/investigations of retail food establishments in the safeguarding of food protection; implementing and/or assessing food regulatory policies and standards for food service and retail; and providing technical assistance and guidance to food control jurisdictions on the design and management of an effective retail food regulatory program. The fraudster will send a check to the victim who has accepted a job. The check can be for multiple reasons such as signing bonus, supplies, etc. The victim will be instructed to deposit the check and use the money for any of these reasons and then instructed to send the remaining funds to the fraudster. The check will bounce and the victim is left responsible.
