Supervisory Security Specialist, GS-0080-13

As a Security Specialist in the Command, Control, Communications, Computers and Information Technology (C4IT) Division, you will provide rapid, reliable and secure communications support and services to Coast Guard operational commanders, other government agencies and military and civilian agencies throughout the world. Being a CG civilian makes you a valuable member of the CG team. Typical work assignments include:
Directing the operations and providing security services that affect the Coast Guard's multi-mission execution(through inspection, management, accountability, issuance, destruction and inventory of COMSEC material on a computerized management database using the National Security Agency (NSA) developed Client Host Platform (CHP) software, etc.); Directing other commands, or conducting analysis and evaluation of reports of Key Management Infrastructure (KMI)/Communications Security (COMSEC) System compromises and preparation of oral/written reports, decisions, conclusions or recommendations and policy for assigned areas; Reviewing and evaluating PACAREA KMI activities through subordinate units' staff. This is accomplished by monitoring work in progress through completion, adjusting plans, assignments, etc. to accomplish the work as effectively and economically; Performing the full supervisory personnel responsibilities to include developing performance standards, counseling on performance, reviewing job descriptions for correctness and accuracy, etc. To qualify for the GS-13:
Applicants must possess specialized experience equivalent to one year of experience at the next lowest grade level (GS-12) that is similar to experience gained in the federal sector. Examples of specialized experience include all of the following:
Providing supervision, technical expertise, support, inspections and administration for Key Management Infrastructure (KMI)/Communications Security (COMSEC) system, secure Terminal Equipment (STE) systems and all other systems; Recommending, writing and implementing command level directives, policies and instructions on all matters of Key Management Infrastructure (KMI)/Communications Security (COMSEC); Reviewing of governing directives, analysis and making determinations of appropriate courses of action. Specialized experience is experience that has equipped you with the particular ability, skill, and knowledge to successfully perform the duties of this position and is typically in or related to the line of work. National Service Experience (i.e., volunteer experience):
Experience refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service programs (e.g., Peace Corps, AmeriCorps) and other organizations (e.g., professional; philanthropic; religious; spiritual; community, student, social). Volunteer work helps build critical competencies, knowledge, and skills and can provide valuable training and experience that translates directly to paid employment. You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer experience. The Office of Personnel management (OPM) must authorize employment offers made to current or former political appointees. If you are currently, or have been within the last 5 years, a political Schedule A, Schedule, C, Non-career SES or Presidential Appointee employee in the Executive Branch, you must disclose this information to the Human Resources Office.

Don't Be Fooled

The fraudster will send a check to the victim who has accepted a job. The check can be for multiple reasons such as signing bonus, supplies, etc. The victim will be instructed to deposit the check and use the money for any of these reasons and then instructed to send the remaining funds to the fraudster. The check will bounce and the victim is left responsible.
