You will serve as a Public Affairs Specialist, executing a wide range of communications functions designed to align internal and external communications, identify and mitigate risk, and enhance public understanding of CG policies, missions, and objectives. Being a CG civilian makes you a valuable member of the team. Typical work assignments include:
Planning implementing national media campaigns to convey information to the public on a variety of programs, policies, and activities. Coordinating press conferences, briefings, specialized media programs, and interviews with senior CG officials. Assisting public affairs staff throughout the U.S. in handling both crisis and non-crisis news events by providing them with coordination information, communications planning, advice, and training assistance, as well as informing them of the national implications of regional events. Conducting complex and exhaustive research into all CG programs and controversial issues and providing comprehensive data to media representatives so that they may report on all aspects of CG operations, missions, and policies in major news stories on a national and international basis. Providing review and clearance of speeches, articles, and books prepared by CG personnel; reviewing all commercial advertising and promotional material using the CG's name and/or emblem. Providing timely, accurate responses to all requests for information about the CG from news media representatives, other government agencies, members of Congress, free-lance writers, magazine and book publishers, editors, professional associations, and bloggers. At the GS-12 level:
Applicants must have at least one year of specialized experience equivalent to the GS-12 level in the federal service. Examples of specialized experience include:
-Experience designing and/or implementing social media strategies for headquarters, regions, or installations that align with goals. -Experience collaborating with other internal teams, such as marketing, to ensure message alignment. -Experience generating, editing, publishing, and/or sharing engaging content on a daily basis through social media platforms. -Experience developing new information materials including news releases, fact sheets, brochures, booklets, broadcast spots that increase communication with the agency's audiences. -Experience staying up to date with current technologies and/or trends in social media, design tools and applications. Specialized experience is experience that has equipped you with the particular ability, skill, and knowledge to successfully perform the duties of this position and is typically in or related to this line of work.National Service Experience (i.e., volunteer experience):
Experience refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service programs (e.g., Peace Corps, AmeriCorps) and other organizations (e.g., professional; philanthropic; religious; spiritual; community, student, social). Volunteer work helps build critical competencies, knowledge, and skills and can provide valuable training and experience that translates directly to paid employment. You will receive credit for all qualifying experience,The Office of Personnel Management (OPM) must authorize employment offers made to current or former political appointees. If you are currently, or have been within the last 5 years, a political Schedule A, Schedule, C, Non-career SES or Presidential Appointee employee in the Executive Branch, you must disclose this information to the Human Resources Office.

Don't Be Fooled

The fraudster will send a check to the victim who has accepted a job. The check can be for multiple reasons such as signing bonus, supplies, etc. The victim will be instructed to deposit the check and use the money for any of these reasons and then instructed to send the remaining funds to the fraudster. The check will bounce and the victim is left responsible.
