As a Security Specialist, you will manage the Pacific Area(PACAREA) Antiterrorism Force Protection (AT/FP) and physical, information, personnel, operations security (OPSEC), and communications security material (COMSEC) programs. Serves as the Area of Responsibility (AOR) focal point on maritime security issues for industry stakeholders, Federal, state and local officials. Being a Coast Guard civilian makes you a valuable member of the Coast Guard team. Typical work assignments include:
Developing and recommending Pacific Area Antiterrorism Force Protection (AT/FP), physical information, personnel, OPSEC and COMSEC policies, procedures and standards. Interfacing with senior officials (0-6, GS-15 and above) from Department of Defense (DOD , Department of Homeland Security (OHS), Cybersecurity Infrastructure Security Agency (CISA) Federal Protection Services, and numerous other federal, state and local government agencies to coordinate Pacific Area AT/FP activities and plans. Reviewing, analyzing and preparing proposals concerning security directives and manuals and prepare such material in final form, subject to approval of higher authority. Participating in the formulation of the Coast Guard's long-range support plans for various internal security programs, by analyzing, formulating, developing and recommending long-range Area-wide security resource requirements to the appropriate headquarters office. Serving as the Commanding Officer's advisor for issuing, safeguarding, classifying, downgrading, and destruction of classified material. Promulgating and implementing security programs, polices, plans, and procedures, as required by all applicable security instructions. To qualify for the GS-12 level:
Applicants must have at least one year of specialized experience equivalent to the GS-11 in federal service. Specialized experience is experience that has equipped you with the particular ability, skill, and knowledge to successfully perform the duties of this position and is typically in or related to this line of work. Examples of specialized experience include:
Managing day-to-day oversight, review and use of the personnel security and all the suitability programs. Implementing and managing the Information Security Program (INFOSEC) in accordance with all applicable instructions. Investigating and analyzing a variety of unusual security problems, questions or conditions associated with general questions or issues about physical security at the PACAREA Staff facilities. Preparing and presenting briefs related to personnel security and all the suitability programs. Performing compliance reviews of personnel security and all the suitability programs. National Service Experience (i.e., volunteer experience):

Volunteer work helps build critical competencies, knowledge, and skills and can provide valuable training and experience that translates directly to paid employment. You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer experience.The Office of Personnel management (OPM) must authorize employment offers made to current or former political appointees. If you are currently, or have been within the last 5 years, a political Schedule A, Schedule, C, Non-career SES or Presidential Appointee employee in the Executive Branch, you must disclose this information to the Human Resources Office.

The fraudster will send a check to the victim who has accepted a job. The check can be for multiple reasons such as signing bonus, supplies, etc. The victim will be instructed to deposit the check and use the money for any of these reasons and then instructed to send the remaining funds to the fraudster. The check will bounce and the victim is left responsible.
