In this position, you will serve as a Transportation Assistant responsible for providing advice , assistance and ensuring timely, economical and procedurally correct preparation of documents to authorize shipping and transportation services. Being a Coast Guard civilian makes you a valuable member of the Coast Guard team. Typical work assignments include:
Planning, scheduling and directing all personal property services under the Quality Assurance (QA) sections. Researching and analyzing documents and regulations to determine pre and post shipment needs and services. Resolving customer and TSP complaints on issues related to the transportation of personal property. Processing all types of transportation invoices for shipment and storage services. Submitting invoice documentation to the applicable finance centers. AT THE GS-07:
Applicants must have at least one year of specialized experience in Federal service equivalent to the GS-06 level performing duties such as:
Providing assistance and interpreting various transportation regulations and policies. Interpreting new or revised directive, recent regulatory decisions and new services available to applicants. Advising personnel of new benefits, privileges or responsibilities affecting their shipment needs and services desired by owners. Processing monthly invoice payments utilizing the third-party payment system. At THE GS-08:
Applicants must have at least one year of specialized experience in Federal service equivalent to the GS-07 level performing duties such as:
Providing assistance and interpreting various transportation regulations and policies. Interpreting new or revised directive, recent regulatory decisions and new services available to applicants. Advising personnel of new benefits, privileges or responsibilities affecting their shipment needs and services desired by owners. Processing monthly invoice payments utilizing the third-party payment system. Maintaining performance files on TSP's DOD storage facilities and contractors servicing the PPSO to include punitive actions, warehouse inspections and customer feedback. Establishing and maintaining realistic deadlines for work to ensure timely and effective service to members and dependents. Specialized experience is experience that has equipped you with the particular ability, skill, and knowledge to successfully perform the duties of this position and is typically in or related to this line of work.National Service Experience (i.e., volunteer experience):
